This is a national key leadership role within the FMS Group. Travel will be required across Western Australia, Queensland, and New South Wales. As the Safety Lift Solutions (SLS) and Machining Manager, you will be expected to actively build a pipeline of work across these regions, working closely with our Business Development team to break new ground in the mining industry. Driving innovation and working closely with other FMS divisions to deliver integrated shutdown packages that improve efficiency and value for our clients.
SLS is a key division of the FMS Group and represents the most recently developed and technologically advanced lifting system in the industry. With world-class capabilities and a focus on innovation, this division has huge potential for growth. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving that growth and positioning SLS and our mobile machining services as industry leaders.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a sustainable pipeline of work across WA, QLD, and NSW.
- Lead the budget build process, manage divisional P&L and ensure financial accountability
- Engage with internal teams to bundle shutdown and machining services, creating end-to-end solutions for our clients.
- Oversee operational performance and ensure service excellence across both divisions.
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, efficiency, and quality.
- Build strong client relationships to position FMS as a preferred partner in the mining and heavy industry sectors.
- Identify new opportunities to expand market share and capability
- Oversee operational delivery, equipment utilisation, and resource
Required Skills and Competencies:
To be successful in the role, you would currently be working in a similar role, and demonstrate the following attributes:
Proven leadership in shutdowns, machining, or lifting solutions within the mining/resources sector.
Strong business development acumen with a national mindset.
Ability to work cross-functionally with project, maintenance, and fabrication teams.
Excellent stakeholder engagement skills — both internally and externally.
A strategic mindset with a hands-on approach to delivery.
- Engineer or Specialist trade qualified – Heavy Diesel Fitter is preferred, other Specialist qualifications in similar fields will also be considered.
- A good understanding of engineering and physics.
- Good problem-solving skills
- High regard for Safety
- Be able to work independently and within a team environment
- Computer literacy and well-developed communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure.
- Highly organised, with strong attention to detail
- A self-starter who demonstrates flexibility with approach to tasks.
- Current drivers licence
