Senior Estimator – Workshop

About the Role

FMS Group is seeking a Senior Estimator – Workshop to join our WA Workshop team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate fabrication quotations, managing RFQs, and supporting production planning, scheduling, and procurement activities.

You will play a key role in ensuring estimates are commercially sound, aligned with technical specifications, and delivered on time to support workshop operations and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed fabrication estimates from drawings, specifications, and RFQs
  • Analyse material requirements, labour, and fabrication processes using rate tables
  • Source and manage supplier and subcontractor pricing
  • Ensure all estimates align with scope, budget, and timelines
  • Support workshop scheduling, production planning, and project pipeline management
  • Coordinate site visits, measure-ups, and job scoping activities
  • Maintain strong communication with internal teams and clients
  • Ensure timely responses to customer enquiries and RFQs
  • Mentor and support team members in estimating and quoting processes
  • Identify risks, improvements, and process efficiencies
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company standards

About You

  • Trade or Engineering qualification (or Engineering Degree)
  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in mining, heavy earthmoving, or fabrication environments
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes and workshop operations
  • Experience in estimating, project planning, or operations coordination
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (MS Project highly regarded)
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proactive, collaborative, and solutions-focused mindset

Desirable

  • Project Management qualifications (Diploma, CAMP, or PMP)
  • First Aid & CPR certification
  • Leadership or management training
