About the Role

Reporting to the Division Manager, you will be responsible for supervising mechanical teams across multiple projects, including capital works, maintenance, and repairs of fixed and mobile equipment.

You’ll play a key role in driving performance, maintaining safety standards, and mentoring team members to achieve outstanding results.

Key Responsibilities

Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ)

  • Lead and promote a strong safety culture with a zero-harm mindset
  • Ensure compliance with site safety systems, legislation, and procedures
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments (JSEA, Take 5/SLAM)
  • Participate in toolbox talks, HSEQ meetings, and training
  • Ensure all incidents and hazards are reported promptly

Supervision & Operations

  • Supervise and coordinate daily site activities
  • Ensure all work is delivered on time, within budget, and to client expectations
  • Monitor job progress, manage variations, and maintain quality standards
  • Liaise with Project Managers, Coordinators, and Planners
  • Assist in developing scopes of work and project schedules

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide strong leadership, mentoring, and technical support
  • Support and develop apprentices to a high standard
  • Conduct performance reviews and manage underperformance
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement

Technical & Administrative

  • Maintain accurate documentation (JSEA, reports, QA records)
  • Ensure compliance with work orders, SOPs, and company procedures
  • Troubleshoot mechanical systems using technical expertise
  • Maintain equipment, tools, and vehicles to required standards

About You

Essential Requirements

  • Mechanical Trade Qualification (Certificate III or equivalent)
  • Schedule 26 Statutory Supervisor Training
  • Current C Class Driver’s Licence
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in mining or heavy earthmoving
  • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance
  • Solid computer and reporting skills

Highly Regarded

  • HR/MR/LR Driver’s Licence
  • High Risk & RII tickets (Forklift, Dogging, EWP, Crane, etc.)
  • Working at Heights, Confined Space, Gas Testing
  • Frontline Leadership or similar training
  • Mental Health Awareness training
