FMS Group is seeking an experienced, trade-qualified Mechanical Supervisor to join our shutdown division, leading mechanical maintenance and project crews across multiple mine sites throughout the Bowen Basin.

Working on a 4D/4N/4off roster, you’ll lead crews of 15+ personnel across dragline, shovel and fixed plant maintenance shutdowns, ensuring work is delivered safely, on schedule and to the highest quality standards.

About the Role

As Mechanical Supervisor, you’ll take the lead in coordinating mechanical shutdown crews, managing day-to-day work activities and ensuring maintenance and project works are completed safely, efficiently and to client expectations.

Working closely with site management, project teams and other key stakeholders, you’ll play a key role in driving productivity, maintaining quality standards and creating a positive, safety-focused team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate mechanical shutdown crews of 15+ personnel across multiple Bowen Basin mine sites.
  • Lead mechanical maintenance shutdowns and project works on draglines, shovels and fixed plant assets.
  • Monitor productivity, work quality and compliance with site, client and company requirements.
  • Identify potential risks, resolve operational issues and support efficient work delivery.
  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure all work is completed in accordance with relevant procedures and standards.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for a confident and capable supervisor who can lead from the front, communicate effectively and bring out the best in their team.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A Mechanical Fitter trade qualification — Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent.
  • Current S123/G189 and G2 competencies.
  • Previous coal mining experience
  • Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
  • A commitment to workplace safety, teamwork and quality workmanship
  • A current Coal Board Medical Standard 11and Drivers Licence
  • The ability to pass pre-employment medical assessments and ongoing drug and alcohol testing
