About the Role
FMS Group is seeking a Senior Estimator – Workshop to join our WA Workshop team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate fabrication quotations, managing RFQs, and supporting production planning, scheduling, and procurement activities.
You will play a key role in ensuring estimates are commercially sound, aligned with technical specifications, and delivered on time to support workshop operations and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed fabrication estimates from drawings, specifications, and RFQs
- Analyse material requirements, labour, and fabrication processes using rate tables
- Source and manage supplier and subcontractor pricing
- Ensure all estimates align with scope, budget, and timelines
- Support workshop scheduling, production planning, and project pipeline management
- Coordinate site visits, measure-ups, and job scoping activities
- Maintain strong communication with internal teams and clients
- Ensure timely responses to customer enquiries and RFQs
- Mentor and support team members in estimating and quoting processes
- Identify risks, improvements, and process efficiencies
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company standards
About You
- Trade or Engineering qualification (or Engineering Degree)
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in mining, heavy earthmoving, or fabrication environments
- Strong understanding of fabrication processes and workshop operations
- Experience in estimating, project planning, or operations coordination
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (MS Project highly regarded)
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proactive, collaborative, and solutions-focused mindset
Desirable
- Project Management qualifications (Diploma, CAMP, or PMP)
- First Aid & CPR certification
- Leadership or management training
