About the Role

FMS Group is seeking experienced and safety-focused Trade Assistants to join our shutdown operations across various mine sites throughout the Bowen Basin, QLD.  You will be working a variety of rosters including 4/4/4 and 5/5/5.  

We are looking for motivated and reliable individuals with proven experience supporting mechanical maintenance crews within coal mining environments. This role will assist tradespeople during shutdown and project works, ensuring all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Mechanical Fitters and other trades personnel during shutdown and maintenance activities
• Support maintenance and project works on draglines, shovels, conveyors, and fixed plant equipment
• Perform general trade assistant duties including equipment preparation, tooling, housekeeping, and labouring tasks
• Follow site procedures and safe work practices at all times
• Maintain a clean, safe, and productive work environment
• Work effectively within a team to meet shutdown schedules and client expectations

What You'll Bring

• Current Standard 11 and Coal Board Medical
• Current Gas Test Atmospheres, Confine Space and Working at Heights Qualifications
• Previous experience working in coal mining shutdowns and maintenance environments
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and teamwork
• Ability to pass ongoing drug and alcohol testing
• Current Driver's Licence and reliable transport
• Current inductions across Peabody, Anglo, Glencore and BMA would be desirable
