About the Role
FMS Group is seeking an experienced, highly organised, and safety-focused Major Shutdown Coordinator to join our shutdown division. You will be working across a 4D/4N/4RnR roster across various sites within the Bowen Basin. Mackay Candidates are encouraged to apply.
This role is responsible for the planning, coordination, and successful execution of major shutdowns and maintenance projects across draglines, shovels, and fixed plant assets. Working closely with site management, supervisors, clients, and project teams, you will ensure shutdown activities are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee major shutdown activities across multiple Bowen Basin mine sites working across a 4/4/4 roster
- Develop detailed shutdown plans, schedules, resource allocations, and execution strategies
- Lead and coordinate supervisors, trades personnel, contractors, and support teams to ensure successful shutdown delivery
- Ensure all shutdown works are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with client, site, and company requirements
- Monitor shutdown progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to minimise delays and maximise productivity
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance shutdown performance, safety, and operational efficiency
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all work activities
What You'll Bring
- Trade Qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Diesel Fitting, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Current S123 and G2 competencies
- Extensive coal mining experience within the Bowen Basin
- Demonstrated experience coordinating and delivering major shutdowns within mining environments
- Strong leadership experience managing supervisors, tradespeople, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams
- Proven experience with dragline, shovel, CHPP, and fixed plant maintenance shutdowns
- Sound understanding of shutdown budgeting, project controls, and risk management
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, leadership, and teamwork
- Ability to pass pre-employment medicals and ongoing drug and alcohol testing
- Current Coal Board Medical and Standard 11 certification
- Current Driver's Licence
